Glow in the Dark secret inspiration word art

I am a big fan of little secret things in art, hidden messages, images, etc. I thought it might be fun to paint a secret message on two stenciled panels.  During the day they look like pretty decorative stenciled art and at night they glow with the inspirational word "DO".

I started out with some recycled square pieces of wood.
I painted them with two different shades of FolkArt paint- Cascade and Dutch Aqua.

When they were dry I taped the Floral Wallpaper and Nouveau Damask stencils onto the blocks and stenciled them using Waverly Chalk paint in plaster color.

 When the decorative stencil paint was dry I then laid the Waverly letter stencil over the decorative stencil (THIS IS IMPORTANT NOT TO REMOVE THE UNDER STENCIL!) and painted the letter with the glow in the dark finish paint. It doesn't show during the day but when the lights go out they show up.

Today's quote come from a post title featured at the company blog for Hawk Media. I simply thought it was funny so I did this coloring page. One of my favorite things to do is flip letters, especially at the end of words.

I used a combination of BIC markers,  Chameleon Markers and Tombow Markers.

"It Depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is" Quote Adult Coloring Page

Since you can't really turn on the news without hearing something about the election and politicians I thought it would be fun to do a TBT political quote adult coloring page brought to you by former president Bill Clinton, "It Depends upon what the meaning of the word 'is' is". It makes me laugh every time I read it :)

I started out with my stash of markers and then the amazing new
Chameleon Markers arrived and well I just had to start playing instantly.

They are like nothing I have ever worked with. They blend from light to dark with a special cap filled with solvent. I can't wait to get really good with them. I feel like it's like learning to paint with a brush using water colors in reverse.

Nothing Ever Changes Everything - Quote - Adult Coloring Page

Today's adult coloring page features the quote, "Nothing Ever Changes Everything". I used 4 different fonts and played around with the type a bit on a curve and the word "everything" I broke up and raised and lowered the letters.

 I used a combination of Tombow Markers and BIC markers.

Kokeshi dolls make me smile. I would definitely put them on the list of "positives" which is why I used them as an image border on this adult coloring page that features the quote,
"Positive Anything is Better than Negative Nothing." by Elbert Hubbard.

"That's Powerful Stupid" - Adult Coloring Page

Today's adult coloring page I designed features the quote, "That's Powerful Stupid" by Bill Maher of the TV show Real Time with Bill Maher.

To color in the adult coloring page I used a combination of Tombow Markers, BIC markers and a variety of others in my stash. My color palette was limited to greens and blues.

Freedom Isn't Free Flag Adult coloring page

With 4th of July just around the corner I am decorating all in the red, white and blue. I thought I'd extend this theme to my adult coloring pages with this "Freedom Isn't Free" quote adult coloring page in the shape of an American flag.

I used a wide variety of fonts. I know the stars are supposed to be white on a blue field but I thought I'd take a bit of artistic license and color them in in a variety of shades of blue on an angle. Adult coloring page with quote: "We are all searching for someone whose demons play well with ours"

Over at Craftside there is the page from the book 20 Ways to Draw a Cat that features 20 ways to Draw a hedgehog. I used one of the hedgehogs as my guide to draw one as an outline so that I could include it in the adult coloring page that features the quote, "We are all searching for someone whose demons play well with ours."

I had a lot of fun coloring in all the tiny little hearts that form the letters. I did a bunch of different color combos, stripes, random and all the same color family. I colored in the hedgehogs in different color ways as well.

NOTE: I am playing around with file types and settings. Please leave me a comment if you find anything odd about the file when you download it, open it and print it out.  I noticed that my first few had a slight gray haze on them.

"Nothing Is Without Meaning" quote - Adult coloring page

I loved making my first adult coloring page with a quote so I made another one. This time I used my favorite image- scissors and combined it with The Wolverine movie quote, "Nothing is Without Meaning".

I used the font Satanas Humanum Sal available for free. And the scissor clip art came from The Old Design Shop.

 One of the things I did on this page is I started to mix colors of the markers and play with the filling in of space to make patterns. I like some of the effects.

I started coloring my page with BIC fine tip markers and I like how it's going. I like this set of markers because they open up and you can see all the colors then it folds back up and easy to store. I haven't lost one yet!

Prim and Proper at Craftcation

I know it's been awhile since I've posted here. But hey, what can I say. Here is a little goodie I spotted at #craftcation14. It is a little decoration made of felt that says "Prim &Proper" and the girl who was wearing it said she was anything but...!
