Summer Sweater Surgery recycling/upcycling project

What do sweaters and summer have in common? Not much if you live where I do or anywhere for that matter that's hot! But rest assured you can still craft with those woolly wonders!

Sunglasses don't mind being snuggled in some thick felted wool and this eyeglass case litterally probably took me less than 5 minutes to make.

All I did was cut the sleeve off of a felted wool sweater, turned it inside out and sewed up the cut edge. Turned it right side out and folded down the cuff.

And in other Sweater Surgery news pop on over to The Sassy Crafter's blog ( a contributor to the book!) to check out more of what she's been up to.
Here she took her inspiration from one of the other projects in the book and got busy with scissors. See the front view and more!

Flag craft for the 4th

Happy 4th of July!
This is the flag at The Burbank Airport, well actually I believe it's the Bob Hope Airport now.
This is a super easy and quick craft project for today. I simply cut the flags off of a garland and using a glue dot adhered them to little hair clips. They can be worn in the hair or clipped to just about anything!
And on another celebratory note, I would like to wish Mickey and Ann of CraftTv.com, The Scrapbook Lounge and Plum and Verdigris a Happy Anniversary! Here they are goofing around on a shoot day with their walkie talkies and ear pieces, a commentary on successful communicating????

Pom Pom Ottoman in The Jo-Ann's Ad

I did a book for Plaid awhile back where all the projects are made with their Knit Wit tool and doodle loom tool. Recently they asked me to make another one for Jo-Ann's with their yarn. And lo-and-behold- whoop, there it is, in the Jo-Ann's sale flyer!!! (top right corner)

This ottoman is made from tons of hand made pom poms on their largest tool and an Ikea inflatable cube (about $8ish)
So just in case you happen to have a big a** manicure-not to worry making pom poms is a total snap with the big nails!
Here the ottoman is "in progress" is anyone else having a "tribble flashback?"
